Q: What kind of church is this?
A: Celebration is an evangelical, interdenominational church with a message of God’s grace for the Tri-Cities. The term “evangelical” means we believe Jesus Christ is the source of forgiveness of sins and the answer for every need. The term “interdenominational” means we are not formally aligned with any particular Christian denomination, yet we respect those who come from denominational churches. Our church handbook is the Bible and our governing authority is the Holy Spirit.
Q: What should I expect if I worship with you?
A: Expect to hear a Christ-centered message with practical application. Expect to celebrate the goodness and grace of the Lord with upbeat and exciting music featuring our band and praise singers. Expect to see multimedia or dramatic presentations which present biblical truths in everyday language. Expect to make a friend!
Q: Do you have baptism and communion?
A: Yes. Baptism and communion are provided “as needed” to the congregation and to any believer in Christ. We are an “open church,” meaning you don’t have to be a member of Celebration to participate.
Q: What should I wear?
A: Wear whatever is comfortable. If you like to dress up (suit and tie) or down (blue jeans and t-shirt) it doesn’t matter to us, nor do we think it matters to God. God doesn’t reside in a temple anymore; we don’t come to “visit Him” in church, and He sees us every moment of every day no matter what we’re wearing. We believe He’s more impressed by your love for Him than your new outfit.
Q: What programs do you have for school age children and youth?
A: We have full-time staff members and a large number of volunteers who provide a wide range of challenging and exciting activities for children and youth of all ages. Our children and youth are being equipped to put their faith into action! If you’d like more information, contact Melinda Upchurch (Minister to Children) or Brian Johnston (Student Life Pastor) at the church office.
Q: Where do I go if I have a specific question?
A: Responsibilities at Celebration Church are divided into three broad leadership teams: Staff, Ministry Delegates, and Elders. The church staff is professionally trained to give guidance to the daily ministerial needs of the congregation. The ministry delegates are elected by the church to lead our fifteen major programs areas. The elders are the visionary leaders who provide stability and supervision in spiritual matters. These three teams work together to secure the spiritual health of our church. You may contact any member of these three teams directly or you may call the church office for referral.
Q: Do you have a nursery?
A: Yes! Our nursery is first-rate! Paid and volunteer workers combine to provide a warm and fun atmosphere for children birth to three years of age. The nursery is open during all church-wide worship experiences. You’ll feel good about leaving your “little one” in our care. Don’t be surprised by our safety precautions. We take seriously the responsibility to keep your child safe.
